Rønning & Gjerløff ink bottle
This is a now-empty bottle that contained archival ink from the P. Rønning & Gjerløff chemical factory.
These days, it’s not unusual to find Rønnings bottles at flea markets in Denmark, but I’ve never found one with the label and cap as intact as this one.
I’m finding it a little difficult to get information on the history of the company, however, I have found out that they held a competition for typeface designers. You can read about the winning entry in this document. There’s also a potentially interesting book on typefaces used on Danish signs, which I’ve ordered from the local library… Possibly more information to come on that later.
